Michael E Smith has a BBA degree in Management from the University of Georgia, where he played baseball, and an MBA in Human Resource Management from Kennesaw State University.
He worked as a procurement control analyst for Lockheed Martin for 29 years. Prior to that, he worked for Equifax for 10 years as an Employment Services Director.
He coached baseball for over 20 years and is a volunteer firefighter and EMT. In his spare time, he enjoys playing pickleball. Michael and his high school sweetheart, Diane, have been married for 54 years. They have three children and six grandchildren and live in Ball Ground, Georgia with four horses, one dog, five cats, four hens, and a rooster named Bigfoot.
He is an active member of the American Chaplain Association, serving as a Business Chaplain with the Ernst Concrete Company. He is a Chaplain with Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services. He is a member of the Board of Directors with the Ball Ground Historical Society and American Chaplains Association. He is on the Advisory Board of Emerge Chaplains Response Team (ECRT), supporting Emerge Ministries and the American Chaplains Association.
He is the author of the devotional book, “God Keeps Showing Up.” A book about “Lessons from Life” in 311 devotional stories. Since 2019, he has shared daily devotionals on Facebook and by email and text to encourage people in their daily walk with the Good Lord.
